on the one hand it is very good that our law's are finally advancing to point where inforcement of EULAs is actually possible.

on the other hand, if "corporate powers" take control of the internet through increased lawsuits, then we might have less freedoms to download free shit..

i think its bullshit personally and when did custom user content become illegal? Punish people for using it in multiplayer where it affects fair gameplay. If i downloaded aimbot and played CS:S offline i wouldnt be banned by VAC and im not affecting anyone. Ive done that before just to see how ridiculous it really is and for entertainment sakes.

I think its a publicity stunt to scare people out of creating hacks. Just like piracy and anything else. You'll never stop them all, you just scare a few off by making a shitstorm about it.

blizzard already sued mmoglider, a botting program a few years back for 6 mil.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glider_(bot)

wikipedia LOL said:
The court did not hold this view and found that Glider infringed upon Blizzard's intellectual property by making an illicit copy of the World of Warcraft client in order to avoid Blizzard's anti-cheating software, Warden, and ordered MMO Glider to pay Blizzard six million dollars.[11] In finding this, the court agreed with Blizzard that World of Warcraft is licensed, not sold.

Good. Stop it early before the game gets ruined. Diablo2 got ruined by hackers. The bots in wow got annoying too.

You don't own a program if you buy it. You own rights to use the product how the company see's fit.

The reason these guys (and mmo glider) got sued is because they made/make money on a product that legally someone else owns/created. If they had just given it up for free there would be no issue.
