Rant: Parking your car.

Why do people insist on backing into a parking spot? They think they can make a fast exit when they leave, and that's all good and logical......UNTIL YOU ADD THE TIME TO PARK AND THE TIME TO LEAVE!

I've watched people park at my work for 5 years now, 50% of them back into a parking spot, 90% of those are Asian, over 70% of them spend 30secs to 1 minute parking their car in reverse.

Here's me parking: Pull in forward, park car in 0.8 secs. Yes!, between the lines, parallel and all! Go figure...b/c I was looking fucking forward and the car is designed to operate best in the forward motion mode!

Here's me leaving: Back out, ...INTO THE FULL FUCKING FREE PART OF THE PARKING LOT B/C I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING PARALLEL TO ANYTHING!!!.....0.8secs.

Here's me, total time parking and leaving: 1.6 secs.

Here's most back-up parkers at my work: 45 seconds!

WTF people, figure it out bud!

Now the fact that most BU parkers at my work are Asian, is b/c most ppl at my work are Asians. In fact now that I think about it, it's got to be close to 95% of all Asian employees are BU parkers and ALL take on average 30-45 secs to complete the parking/leaving task.

I'm not saying it's a conspiracy, I'm saying it's a gene malfunction thing.

So I'm opening a charity foundation called BUTTASS, Back-Up Traffic Trouble Asian Support Society. All contributions will go to helping Asian drivers better understand the mechanics of the parking/leaving cycle.

The first few donations will go to Narf and his family, as his his farther is a BUP, and his father is a BUP, and his father is a BUP and his father was caught BUPing a horse and buggy.

Please help. Your contributions are greatly needed by many struggling Asian parkers.

Although everyones going to call bullshit on this cause im asian but it doesnt take me that long to back into a space maybe 2-3 seconds from hitting the reverse.

The only reason i perfer to back into a spot is that its easier to see oncomming retards when your geting out.

Lol. Back in ftw. I'm not in that much of a hurry to pull in damn. But if you can't get in straight you fucking suck, and you should have your vehicle keyed!

I always just pull through parking spaces, unless the lot is real full. Your right though you save hardly any IF any time anyways.

I admit I back in almost 100% of the time. I must also admit that there's really no reason for me to do so other than sheer habit. When I first started learning how to drive I backed-in on purpose, to hone my skills. Now, it's just out of habit, and I can do it in any space in the same time (if not less time) than the average person can park forward in.

Although, Remy DOES bring up a great point, exiting (maybe not at work, but somewhere busier- a mall for example) it's a great benefit to see a kid/stroller/mom/reeeeeally hot mom first....

And one more thing, anybody agree with me on this??

After you just wash your baby (car) and she's all clean, looks real good, you back in to see her sparkling front end??? I do :) haha

are you sure you're talking about a car?

There is no fkng way u can back in park as fast as a forward park. A forward park is a little swing to the opposite side, then steer in..bam done. 0.8 secs.

A reverse park is: pull past the spot, crank head around, manipulate car steering in reverse mode and align car between 2 yellow lines in parallel.

I'll bet I can reverse park better then most, and I still find it's more efficient to forward park, b/c then the reverse part (of the procedure, either way an F and R movement is required) is so much easier...out into a very wide lane, and parallelism isn't such a constraint.

The Asian part is just jokes guys. Where the hell is Narf? Being caught reverse parking a horse and buggy...that's gets some response ..no? :)

hahahaha did with me Kirock lol

No but really, backing in is fast man, when you do it all your life, shit..... the difference in time (like you said earlier) is pretty mucch neglegent...

I parallel park my car every day in front of my house. The car is 2 inches from the house. I can do it in 1 reverse move and one forward move in about 4 secs. The wife usually takes 3 tries at it and the car is still 1 foot from the house! LOL.
