So is the general consensus for the plaguing lag issues Meta/SourceMod?

I've been reading on AlliedMods forum and a lot of Linux servers are experiencing similar problems, while Windows servers are fine. They have a general thread for the last srcds update and everyone is screaming bloody murder https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=247979 but the problem has been reported previously as well.

The gist of it is that the best combination to date is MetaMod 1.10.3-git918 and SourceMod 1.6.2-git4568 (latest stable snapshots). Any major lag is due to old plug-ins and extensions that need to be recompiled either DIY or disable until developer updates. This doesn't seem to alleviate all the lag but it's the best.

If after you install any said mods they advise to double check the versions and resolve any errors before adding extra plug-ins and extensions.

    Code:
    meta version (check version)
    sm version (check version)
sm exts list (check extensions, fix linking errors or version incompatibility)
    sm plugins list (check plug-ins)

Example to fix extension linking errors: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showpost.php?p=2197419&postcount=244

You can proceed to install plug-ins and extensions making sure they have been re-compiled because of changes to SourcePawn and Source/SteamWorks SDK. Known problem plug-ins are RankMe and SMAC, if installed, disable for the time being.

    EDIT:

Here's the discussion on the mailing list which replicates what's on AlliedMods with the resolution being that of making sure all plug-ins and extensions are error free and update-to-date.

For TF2 use plug-ins dependent on SteamWorks instead of SteamTools? I know nothing about this but it's been repeated several times through my reading. Also a problematic Meta/SourceMod setup for TF2 will affect CS:GO, L4D2, etc. and vice versa.

I'd like to chime in and say it's probably best to keep the install to a bare minimum with only MetaMod, SourceMod, and the GameMe plug-in. After a few days of quiet, build up the nerves to add any extras.

tl;dr version: if you're a Linux srcds admin... kill yourself.

Yep, this is old news for us. We're well aware of the issues and I, personally, am hoping one of these issues is causing the lag. The comfort, to some extent, is that 90% of servers suffer like we do.
