Van Persie's goal was fucking amazing against Spain, dat swan dive. Spain were obliterated in that game and that made me so happy.

But then you get the first goal from the USA match, 30 seconds in. Jesus christ.
Ghana got played in that match.

It sucks that England out-played Italy on the pitch but suck when it comes to actually scoring goals.
Italy had their two chances and took them.

I'm not actually a massive football fan but I can get into the World Cup, it's pretty fun.

If I wanted to watch someone struggle to score all evening/afternoon or whatever, I'd watch the single TD dudes at a bar.
Plagiarized/adapted from the 'net, but still true.

My Uncle is from Brazil and is currently there now. I grew up watching Ronaldo (brazillian one) and Ronaldinho play for Brazil with my cousin and uncle so I'm rooting for Brazil simply because of memories.

I also want the US to do well, of course, but if the final match comes down to the US and Brazil, I'll be happy with either team winning, as long as it is a good match.

France has been wrecking so far but the competition for them isnt as good honestly. I've got either Germany or the Netherlands winning it all.

probably the most interesting and exciting WC i've seen outta the 3 i've cared to follow

so many goals and upsets this year it's fantastic

I hate the 'USA haters' bandwagon. FFS, the US team has a come a long fuckin way n deserve to be in the WC.

Argentina is my team this year tho, I hope they take it home! Fuk Portugal! haha

Can someone explain to me what the tie between the US and Portugal actually means? Do we still have a shot at the title or what? ._.

As far as I can see, US and Germany both have 4 points. Ghana and Portugal both have 1.
The US need to either Win or Draw against Germany to get some extra points. If the US beat or draw with Germany, you're into the next stages.
If Germany beats the US, then you need Ghana and Portugal to draw each other.

If Ghana beats Portugal (or the other way around) and Germany beats the US, then I think it goes down to all the extra stats like goals defended etc.
Or maybe theres some kind of playoff match? I forget.

For now you're still in it, but it depends on the next two matches.

I think the US has a decent chance this time around to make it beyond the quarters. They are getting a lot of injuries though on their key players. I have seen a bunch of ham string injuries this WC. Must be the heat n humidity, lack of match fitness n prep or too much, or a combo of all.

Some of the african nations have been really great too

Still, argentina gogogoooo

Ghana were boss against Germany, they could have been all over them, at least a 4-2 draw if their players weren't so greedy on the ball.
Multiple missed opportunities because their players wanted the goal for themselves instead of a team effort.

I was pretty damn impressed with the US' 30 second goal in their first match. Soon as that happened I realised that the team had improved a lot from other tournaments.

I said from day one that England weren't getting out of Group stages. Not because of lack of faith in my team, but because I saw our opponents.
Even if by some miracle we beat Cost Rica (the group leaders, no less) we won't be making it through.
I would love for our manager to put on some of the less experience players for our final match, sure we may not win, but it wouldn't make a difference. I think it would be nice for some of the lesser players to make themselves known, at least earn a cap for their country. Let the main guys sit on the bench for once.
