matchmaking?

has anyone played around with this, i see it come up a lot in reddit. I am guessing it works like halo to find your best matched opponent rank wise. With the increase in aimbots and wallhacks i just can't see it being any fun without proper server administration. It's probably the core reason TD servers are still around as you can count on some enforcement most days.
I dunno am i missing out on a part of CS:GO by not trying matchmaking mode?
