You just said it. This is just one more thing to get people's attention OFF of world government taking place.
So far we have:
- two wars, Iraq and Afghanistan
- worries of nuclear war with Iran
- North Korea's doin God knows what (another worry)
- BP Oil leak and what it means for us (see Archduke's article)
Then for the folks that don't give a fuck about anything politically relevant, television (and popular associated media) is filled with:
- Who's gonna be the next top model
- Who's gonna be the next top dance crew
- Who's gonna be the next top singer
- Who's gonna be the next top talent act
This is all to take our minds and divert our attention to something that "seems" relevant, while masking what's really important:
- the ongoing stripping of human rights
- money getting lost (i.e. All money sent to Rwanda, Darfur, and the latest Haiti, banking/housing market crash etc.)
=> Anyone know where this money is going? I do. To the International Monetary Fund.

The IMF gets the majority of its funding from the US government. Canada only contributes 3% of the IMF's budget whereas we contribute 17%.
I think the majority of the foreign aid destined for the 3rd world is stolen by the people leading the countries in which the aid was donated and by the restrictions placed on the type of aid (which points it at certain business ventures).
